The VTL1000-4500 series vertical lathes are distinguished by their rigidity, stability, and very high production efficiency. They are designed for heavy-duty and precise machining of large-sized, symmetrical, and asymmetrical workpieces with diameters ranging from 1100 to 4800 mm. The massive, heavily ribbed cast iron construction ensures excellent mechanical properties while maintaining efficient and precise machining. The high-power main drives (FANUC/SIEMENS) and two-stage gear train from the German company ZF efficiently transmit high power and powerful torque. The sliding guides of the crossmember (X axis), column (positioning motion), and slider (Z axis) have a hardness of 48-52 HRC, and the sliding side is lined with Turcite plates, which have a very low coefficient of friction. These features allow for maximum feed uniformity, elimination of unfavorable stick-slip vibrations, and excellent damping. To ensure high positioning accuracy, position measurement in all two axes is performed using Heidenhain linear scales.
