Company History
For 48 years, we have been supporting European industry. The history of Abplanalp spans nearly five decades, building on the vision of Swiss entrepreneur Hans Abplanalp. In the late 1970s, at the foot of the Swiss Alps, he founded Abplanalp Engineering—a company dedicated to manufacturing machine tools and distributing equipment from other leading producers. Abplanalp was among the first Swiss companies to enter the Polish market, initially operating through PHZ Transpol.
Soon after, Abplanalp Engineering established its Polish branch, expanding its portfolio to include spare parts and technical services. The following years of transformation across Central and Eastern Europe led to a rapid expansion of the office network, with new locations opening in Minsk, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk.
Growing demand for Abplanalp Engineering’s expertise led to further expansion, with offices established in Moscow, Yekaterinburg in the Urals, Novosibirsk in Siberia, and Tolyatti in southern Russia.
A turning point came in 1992, when the Swiss branch operating in Poland was transformed into the independent company, Abplanalp, fully taking over all previous operations. The subsequent years of dynamic growth saw the company expand into Central Asia via its Uzbekistan office, as well as into the Baltic markets through the establishment of Abplanalp Estonia and Abplanalp Lithuania.
